Celebrating Pahela Baishakh-1426

‘Pahela Boishakh’ or Bengali New Year is the first day of Bengali Calendar, celebrated in both Bangladesh and West Bengal and in Bengali communities in Assam, Tripura and Odisha and all over the world as well where the Bengali community arises.

Pohela Boishakh is a celebration like very few others. Shorn of all religious, societal or political influences, Pahela Boishakh is a celebration simply of the people and the unifying spirit of Bengal. In an explosion of color, every Pahela Boishakh sees Bangladeshis from all walks of life celebrating the coming year with much fun and enthusiasm.

One of the most colorful events of the day is held in Dhaka. Early in the morning, people in hundreds and thousands pour in from all directions to attend the cultural function at Ramna Batamul organised by Chhyanata. The cultural programme begins just at sunrise and the renowned artists of the country take part in the programme that starts with the famous Tagore-song Esho-he-Boishakh, Esho Esho…… Artists also sing traditional folk songs, and display classical dances with the rhythm of different musical instruments.

Food is an important part of the Bengali New Year. People usually eat panta bhat (rice soaked in water), shutki (dried fish), fried Hilsa fish and achar (pickles).

On this joyful occasion Virtuanic wish you a wonderful Pahela Baisakh. May all your dreams come true, your aspirations find bigger wings and most importantly you feel loved wherever you go.
